On Wired today (and everywhere), a story about avalanches on the edge of the Martian ice cap, caught on camera:

Mars avalanches

The images themselves are pretty amazing, but that’s not all that caught my eye. Wired runs a context-sensitive news widget from Associated Press, that gathers a bunch of recent stories related to the page you’re viewing.

Related to the Mars avalanche story? In addition to “video” of the avalanche, I saw “Raw video: Frantic search for avalanche victims”, “Multiple avalanches bury ski resort homes”, “At least two killed in Montana avalanche”, “Asteroid may collide with Mars”, and “Hundreds photographed nude in Miami.”

How many of these actually refer to Mars? Perhaps the future is trying to tell us something, like, “Don’t buy a chalet at a Martian ski resort.”
