This is the blog of aspiring speculative fiction writer, Benjamin Carnys. Or is it? There are many questions that remain to be answered, including, “What is my psuedonym?”
I currently live in the UK, my country of birth, but I grew up in tropical Australia. I work in scientific research of a certain nature, details of which I intend to redact from this site whenever they attempt to insert themselves.
(Ooooh! Maybe his work is dangerous and exciting? Something that requires a high-level security clearance and the promise of his firstborn to a shadowy government agency conducting bizarre experiments to create a race of super-soldiers?! … Er, nope.)
The title of the blog is inspired by two of my favourite elementary school conundra—when to use ‘that’ rather than ‘which’, and when and where to place a comma. As you might guess, I’m still not sure. The tag line refers to my attempts to be both a writer and a successful <redacted>.
I started this blog in January 2008. It’s had its ups and downs, and I’m sure there are more to come. It sometimes succeeds in giving me a place to put my thoughts about speculative fiction; occasionally, it fails to prevent the writing of said SF. Casual readers of That, Which might be interested in my reviews.
